During my last visit to Ploiesti,while gazing over the city from the hotel window,a certain part of the city seemed to be recognized by my memory.I had no idea what I was looking at,until the memories became a certainty:I was looking at the old "Vega" refineries,which was the most bombed facility during the Tidal Wave raid in 1944.The towers remained the same,and the dusk lights made this image all the more fascinating.
Bellow is one of the only photographs taken by a USAF photographer,during the raid over Vega refineries,12th of August,1944:
And here,the same place,only from a slight different angle,taken by me.
This could be a very interesting future project for my Minox work....( note to self,as it were...)
