Hand guns of the World War I & II

I had this book in my collection since 1999 or so.As this book shows some rare models of hand guns of both WW's,I thought some collectors or fans of such literature would be interested to read about these kinda rare fire arms,as I have said, some of them quite scarce.Enjoy!

The Schmeisser arrived

Finally, after some weeks of unlimited patience,I have received today the new replica for my collection:the famous submachine gun,German -made,the MP40 "Schmeisser",or Maschinen Gewehr Pistole 40.

All metal,shoots 6mm BB's,at some 50 yards,with penetrating power,penetrating a Coke can,that is.It's a beautiful item,that will look very nicely on my weapon display,just under my Crusader sword:-)).

This is the MP40 just received today:

For a detailed info on this weapon, check this link, very explicative indeed.

This bellow is the real thing, from a Wermacht dedicated museum:

Is this madness or what?Striking resemblance. indeed, very much so.

And this is from a German archive of WWII,showing a German soldier, hugging his trusty old MP40.The photograph was taken in Russia, during the winter of 43-44.

All in all,a dream of mine came true today. Now,where did I see that Mauser 9mm broomhandle for sale???

New Minox album 2010

The arms of our sister country - REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA

Once part of the historical territory of Romania, the home of our bravest kings of the past...now the poorest country in Eastern Europe...Republic of Moldova!

What curse divided our countries? With over 6 million Romanian-speaking ethnics deported in the Soviet gulags,no wonder Moldovans lost their national sense. Many of them are confused as to their real ancestry,no idea they have if they are Romanians,Moldovans or Russian descendants.

However...they are a really good people and I hope that this little country, once part of Romania, will come back to its mother-country.Romania will once more be the Great Romania,as it was called until 1945.

Focke Wulf 190A - June 1941 Eastern Front

One of my all-times favorite air combat, featuring the famous FW 190,chasing and destroying Russian planes during the first days of 1941,immediately after the invasion of USSR.

As both virtual member of a WWII Geschwader, and passionate of classic photography,I am so pleased when I find such rare gem of a 16mm gun camera movie.

Tidal Wave 1944 - Ploiesti 2010

During my last visit to Ploiesti, while gazing over the city from the hotel window,a certain part of the city seemed to be recognized by my memory.I had no idea what I was looking at,until the memories became a certainty:I was looking at the old "Vega" refineries, which was the most bombed facility during the Tidal Wave raid in 1944.The towers remained the same, and the dusk lights made this image all the more fascinating.

Bellow is one of the only photographs taken by a USAF photographer, during the raid over Vega refineries,12th of August,1944:

And here, the same place, only from a slight different angle, taken by me.

This could be a very interesting future project for my Minox work....( note to self,as it were...)
